About Char Dham Yatra 2023

Uttarakhand, also known as Dev Bhoomi (Land of Gods), is a popular destination for spiritual tourists and devotees from all over the world. Badrinath, Kedarnath, Gangotri, and Yamunotri, all in the Garhwal area, are the four holiest destinations on the Hindu pilgrimage circuit in India.

These four holy sites represent the spiritual origins of the Yamuna (at Yamunotri), the Ganges (at Gangotri), the Mandakini (at Kedarnath), and the Alaknanda (at Badrinath).

Start the journey in Barkot, a small town located in the Uttarkashi district of Uttarakhand. This small town is the base for visiting the holy shrines of Yamunotri and Gangotri, and it’s located in the beautiful Himalayas, surrounded by peaceful and serene atmosphere.

Proceed to Yamunotri, the westernmost shrine of the Char Dhaam Yatra, located in the Garhwal Himalayas. Yamunotri is the source of the Yamuna river, and it’s home to the temple dedicated to the goddess Yamuna.

Return to Barkot and then travel to Gangotri, the source of the Ganges river, and the site of the Gangotri Temple. Gangotri is one of the most important pilgrimage sites for Hindus, as it’s the source of the Ganges River, one of the holiest rivers in India.
